Can I insure my camping gear too?
Sterling also has standalone camping equipment cover. From just £90, you can protect all of your camping equipment, whether you’re spending the weekend in the English countryside, or going on a three month trip around Europe.
All furniture and furnishing associated with the camping trip, personal possessions, luggage and camping accessories will be protected, subject to an excess of £25.
Are there any trailer tent safety guidelines that I need to know?
- The laden weight of your trailer tent and contents must be within the vehicle’s towing ability and not more than 85% of the car’s kerbside weight if the trailer tent has brakes – 50% if it hasn’t. (Depending on when you passed your driving test the towing allowance may differ. Check for the latest Department for Transport advice.)
- Maximum trailer ten width in the UK and EU is 2.55m.
- Indicators, lights and brakes (where fitted) must work and the trailer tent must display the same number plate as the towing vehicle.
- Trailer tent speed limits on UK roads are 60mph for motorways and dual carriageways and 50mph on single carriageway roads. Trailers tents cannot use the outside lane of a motorway.
